Out of the Engine Room and onto the Water

It's Good Friday and we're leaving Ensenada. Once we left San Diego we anchored at the Coronado Islands the first night then motored (no wind to speak of) down to Ensenada. We're a bit late to see most of the gray whale's migration but we did see a few small groups; they are so graceful. At San Ignacio there's a protected lagoon where the whales come right up to you and even show you their babies; a woman I spoke with yesterday told me how she was able to even touch them. If we're lucky we'll get to see more.
Baja Naval marina is a pretty spiffy place; free internet, free long distance, hot showers, and a great loan library. A Canandian couple just lightened their load by donating heaps of books and VCR tapes (too bad we left our VCR behind). Our new additions are sure to make us Winston Churchill experts in no time. The check in procedure was not too painful but still took 3 hours. We've walked Ensenada from one end to the other, sampled every type of fish taco and made friends with 2 Swedes workng on one of the cruise ships. They had an idea, that the ships should just make believe they go to different ports but really just head out at night then circle back to the same port and just change the signs and tee shirts announcing where you are; they figure the tourists wouldn't know the difference.
Here's a picture of Al finally out of the engine room, enjoying Baja.
WE'RE ON A BOAT, WE'RE ON A BOAT, WE'RE ON A FIRE TRUCKING BOAT!!!
